Meet Christina

Christina Romelus, a lifelong public servant, was first elected to public office at the age of 27 just 2 weeks before she gave birth to her second son.

4 days later she was sitting on the dais ready to serve her community. While she served the City of Boynton Beach as Vice Mayor and Commissioner, she was a fierce advocate for improving her residents’ quality of life through increasing affordable housing, increasing access to funding for small businesses and beautifying the city for all residents to enjoy.

A devoted servant leader, she has served as a missionary in multiple foreign countries, worked as a nurse for a decade and taught Anatomy and Physiology as a professor at Palm Beach State College from 2014-2020. She understands that education is the great equalizer and continuously advocates for better access to education for all.

In her leadership roles, she strives for excellence, making impactful changes and to create greater access for those underrepresented in leadership roles, especially in government and private corporations.

Christina is married to her high school sweetheart, Darren, and together they are raising their 2 boys, Christian & David Lee, in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Christina's Agenda

Boosting Literacy Across the District

Only 54% of Palm Beach County students are currently reading at grade level — and that’s simply not acceptable. I’m committed to working with school leaders, reading specialists, and families to improve early literacy instruction, invest in proven tools and resources, and ensure every child builds strong reading skills from the start. Literacy is the foundation of academic success and economic mobility — we can and must do better.

Making Our Schools Safer

Every parent deserves to know their child is safe at school. I will prioritize practical, effective school safety measures — from improving campus security and mental health support to fostering a respectful, positive school culture. Creating safe, calm learning environments gives students the confidence to focus, grow, and thrive.

Supporting Teachers & Engaging Parents

Teachers are the heart of our schools — but they are too often overworked and underpaid. I will advocate for competitive salaries that reflect the vital role teachers play in shaping our community’s future. At the same time, I will work to expand meaningful parent involvement, giving families the tools and voice they need to actively support their children’s learning both in and out of the classroom.

Preparing Students for Life After Graduation

Our schools should prepare every student for success beyond high school — whether that means college, trade school , the military, or entrepreneurship. That’s why I will work to strengthen career academies, technical programs, STEM opportunities, and dual enrollment. When students graduate, they should leave with the confidence and skills to take their next step forward.

Strong Partnerships, Stronger Schools

I’ll cut red tape and simplify the way schools partner with local businesses and organizations—so we can open more doors for students, fuel local job growth, and keep our communities thriving.

Putting Students First, Not Politics

Schools should be focused on academics, not agendas. I believe in teaching our kids how to think, not what to think. My priority will always be improving academic outcomes, creating safe and supportive classrooms, and giving parents peace of mind that schools remain a place for learning, growth, and opportunity.
